Labneh Ranch
The Best Sauce you've never had
West Coast Kid’s Love Ranch (NOT SORRY)
I grew up on the West Coast and because of that ranch is a staple — a mother sauce. This isn’t a sauce relegated to the sandwich bar, no this is a glorious human invention. We don’t take slander on this elite condiment- I will block you.
When I was growing up, not having ranch in a pizza shop was a crime punishable by law at the highest extent. We don’t concede to Hidden Valley either — way too thicc and not in the way my crush is (If you’re reading this, Call me back please!)
Do you like ranch? Do you like Labneh? Would you try this?
What would Frankie do?
I still remember the first time I had labneh. I was working at Proof Bakery when one of my Lebanese coworkers handed me a piece of warm toast with labneh slathered all over it. That bite changed my life forever. Fast forward many years, many pounds of labneh later — It hit me! Labneh Ranch. The idea was born.
It makes too much sense. Ranch should be creamy and smooth — not so thick it rips the cheese off your slice or the breading off a strip. Now labneh has that tang and that funk. Sure, it’s thicc on its own, but that’s the beauty — we can thin it out and let it do the heavy lifting here.
And that’s what excites me. Labneh ranch is a bridge. For people who grew up with labneh, it feels familiar in a new form. For people who never had it, ranch makes it feel instantly familiar and approachable.
This concept is the same energy as Frankie’s Asian Grandma series that eventually landed him a collaboration with Fly By Jing’s for a Chili Crisp Ketchup. He took a classic, flipped it through a different lens, and suddenly it’s not just sauce anymore. It’s culture, memory, and flavor colliding.

I used this on my Chicken Strip Sando (RECIPE COMING SOON)
Are there any sauce combos you like that seem unexpected?

As a Californian at heart- yes, Ranch is a thing. My kids had to have Ranch dressing to dip their pizza in- ugh. Ranch packets - the worst. I live in Spain currently and I had to figure out a recipe because its not a thing here- I look forward to trying this- what a great idea- Labneh Ranch, love it!
yes to both labneh and ranch! i've used labneh in a pinch when i was out of sour cream or mayo, but will definitely try out this recipe. had a similar what the fuck moment when eating labneh for the first time - so good you're sad you went on years without it.
